Tamales
Ingredients:
3 lbs ground meat
* 2 tsp garlic powder
*1 tsp red pepper
*1/2 tsp black pepper
*5 tsp salt
*1/2 cup yellow corn meal
*1-3oz. bottle chili powder
(save one oz. for water)
*1 small can tomato sauce
1 lg. can tomato sauce
*4 onions (chopped)
(put in blender with tomato sauce)
*1/2 cup water
Put all with (*) in blender, then mix with meat by hand
Start large pot of water boiling.
Put all in large pan and mix well by hand. Take about 1 tablespoon at a
time, roll in an oblong ball and then roll in yellow corn meal. Wrap in
coffee filters. Then put all the tomales in turkey pan, layers in opposite
directions. Pour boiling water over to completely cover all tomales and 1
large can of tomato sauce and 1 once chili powder.
Boil for 2 hours,with cover on, turn fire on low.
Makes 85-100 tomales.
