The jury came back at 1 p.m. after deliberating for two hours. They didn't believe Scot Kidd’s version of the brutal killings. Instead they agreed Kidd is the man who killed two elderly people with a shotgun in their Iowa home.
Fog is once again causing some issues this morning, but thankfully it’s not as widespread as yesterday but with that being said a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect for Calcasieu, Jeff Davis and Cameron Parishes until 9 a.m.. Much like yesterday once the sun comes up the fog will quickly burn off and then it’s off to the races as temperatures will warm into the afternoon and the hot and humid afternoons stick around into the weekend.
A cold front is pulling up stationary in our vicinity now and will slowly move east across the state through Saturday. The front will likely keep a slight chance of rain in the forecast through the weekend
Scot Kidd is accused of killing Joan and Zoren O’Brien in their Iowa home. Kidd is charged with two counts of first-degree murder. He took the witness stand late this afternoon and admitted to shooting Zoren O’Brien with a shotgun, but said it was in self-defense. He said Joan O'Brien was accidentally shot by her husband.
Fog has developed across all of Southwest Louisiana this morning and really reducing visibility in most areas and that’s why a Dense Fog Advisory has been issued until 10:00 a.m. this morning. Expect the warm and muggy afternoons to continue through the end of the week and into the weekend as a real significant change in the pattern doesn’t look likely until the middle of next week.
Parking has become a premium at Lake Charles Regional Airport, with some people even having to park in the grass during busy holiday weekends. This comes as the airport anticipates an increase in travel as the holiday season gets closer.
Dwayne O’Brien went to the house August 29, to help his parents clean up after Hurricane Laura. He called “Good morning, we’re here,” but no one answered as he entered the home about 7 a.m. But he quickly made a gruesome discovery--his parents shot to death.
Our weather pattern has begun to change as humidity is slowly returning with dew points climbing back into the lower 60′s and that has added a little mugginess into the air. Temperatures this morning are running some 10-15 degrees warmer than what we are seeing 24 hours ago and this will be a common theme heading over the course of the next few days.
