CPSO: One dead in shooting near Huber Park

Lake Charles, LA (KPLC) - The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting near Huber Park.

According to Chief Deputy Stitch Guillory, CPSO received a call about a disturbance at the Golden Nugget Casino between employees and two groups of guests in the pool area at approximately 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24.

By the time CPSO arrived, the guests in the two groups had left the property, Guillory said. The groups then agreed to meet near Huber Park, where gunshots were fired.

One person has died, Guillory said.

The Mid City Baseball League was playing tournament games at the park when the shooting occurred.
