25-year-old man killed in Westlake mobile home community
Westlake, LA (KPLC) - The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim of an overnight homicide near Pinderosa Park.
Authorities say they were dispatched to a home off Westwood Drive in the Dove Creek Community of Westlake after receiving a call from a neighbor who reported suspicious behavior around midnight this morning, Feb. 1, 2023.
“Minutes after that, the cops showed up with a bunch of vehicles, and they knocked on our door to see if we knew anything, but we weren’t able to help with any information,” Yvonne Roberts said. “They were here for pretty much the whole night.”
When deputies arrived they found Damarcus A. Ardoin, 25, deceased inside the residence.
”You know, we are in the early stages of our investigation,” Chief Deputy Stitch Guillory said. “We still have a lot of un-answered questions, you know, on this possible homicide. It appears to be drug related.”
The manager of the complex said the victim lived alone and multiple neighbors say that they also heard gunshots this morning around the time of the incident.
7News is expecting more information regarding the homicide, including what led up to the incident and identification of a suspect or suspects.
“We’re going to follow that evidence and see where it goes,” Guillory said.
The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office says their investigation into the incident is ongoing and asks anyone who may have information regarding this incident to call them at 337-491-3605. Anonymous tips can also be submitted by using the CloseWatch Calcasieu app or by calling Crime Stoppers at 337-439-2222.
Deputies remind those involved that anyone knowingly withholding information or evidence from law enforcement will be subject to charges.
This is a developing story and will be updated as we receive new details.
