LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Southerly winds returned Monday afternoon and that pushed humidity levels upwards and that will make it easy for fog to form again overnight into Tuesday morning.  Temperatures will still be rather cool with lows by Tuesday morning ranging from the upper 30s north of I-10 to the low 50s at the coast.  That is if we remain mostly clear and the winds go calm overnight; if the wind remains up or more clouds move in, we would be warmer overnight.

Tuesday will be another nice day with mostly sunny skies and temperatures topping out in the mid to upper 60s.  A warming trend will continue into Wednesday until the next cold front arrives.  Clouds will return ahead of the front and showers will be possible by Wednesday.  Rain will likely hold-off until later in the day Wednesday.  For now, I am placing the rain chance at 60%, but severe weather looks unlikely.

Cooler air will move in behind this front on Thursday with highs only reaching the low 50s if the clouds clear out quickly; if the clouds linger, we may remain in the 40s!  Santa will have NO problems reaching SWLA Christmas Eve as we will have clear skies and cool temperatures.

Christmas will start off with a bit of Cajun Sneaux, or frost, as temperatures will be in the low to mid 30s!  But the weather will be perfect for any outdoor activities you may have planned with highs topping out in the upper 50s.

Another warming trend gets under way by Saturday as southern winds return.  Then the next cold front will arrive Sunday or Monday, this front looks weak and will bring no major changes to our area.  A stronger cold front may arrive by the middle of next week, but that is subject to change.
